2FA Authenticator FAQ

What is a TOTP code?

TOTP is a one-time password generated from the current time and a shared secret. Most codes refresh every 30 seconds and are used for two-factor authentication.

Does my secret get sent to a server?

No. Parsing and code generation happen entirely in your browser, and account data is cleared when the page refreshes.

Why does the code differ from my phone authenticator?

Make sure your device clock is accurate, then confirm the secret, algorithm, code length, and refresh period match the service settings.
